The latest trips on the Narrowboat Amy
Filled with chilled out cruising on the canal, bottles of Prosecco and the odd mishap or two 😊
2nd March 2025 – Great Haywood to Weston Return (4 Hours, 4 Locks)
Today marked our first cruise of the season, setting off from Great Haywood at 12:50 PM. The weather couldn’t have been better—clear blue skies, warm in the sun but cool enough for a light coat.
The plan was to cruise to the Woolpack in Weston for a meal, but after taking some time for start-of-the-year checks on the boat, we were a bit pushed for time. Instead, we settled for food on board while cruising.
The trip down was smooth, with four locks to pass through. We turned the boat just beyond Weston, but the water was shallow, making the manoeuvre a bit trickier than expected. It took a bit of care, but we managed it without issue.
We arrived back at Great Haywood at 4:50 PM, wrapping up a solid four-hour run. A good start to the season—straightforward cruising and a reminder to plan for a bit more time when heading to the Woolpack next time.
